I ran in the Worldwide WordPress 5K yesterday. I wish I could say it was a great run.
But it wasn’t. I planned to run 5 1/2 miles but I cut the run short because I felt terrible. My legs hurt. I couldn’t get my breathing right. And my arms even hurt at one point. It was my worst feeling run to date. But I got the 3.1 miles in.
Since last year a lot of good things have happened with my running. I run regularly and longer distances and at a faster pace. I ran an 8K in May. I finished a Spartan Race in August and I will run my first 10K in October.
Most importantly I will run tomorrow and I will run my planned 5 1/2 miles. Even if hurts.
Because I want to get better at this.
Oh I’ve been there many times, good for you for keeping going. AS long as you know its not an injury or causing an injury the best thing you can do is keep going. WELL DONE!
Thank you Angela.
Good for you Marie 😊 I joined a beginners running group a couple of months ago, ‘graduated’ but still haven’t managed to attend any of the improver sessions.
Good luck for the 10k in October, do let us know how you get on 😊
I sure will Vanessa. Keep at the running if it’s something you want to do.
Thanks. Oh I will, it’s something I want to do – however slow 😊 X
And I did what I set out to do! Even better I ran 6 miles….my longest run to date!
Running can be so darn hard sometimes! Keep at it and I love your attitude about getting up and doing it all again tomorrow!
Thank you Sara. Yes, sometimes I have to be my loudest cheerleader!
Good for you. Running isn’t easy. Some definitely feel better than others. But if we stick with it, there are more and more of those great rains tucked in around those tough ones.
Thank you Sarah. I plan to stick with it to get more of those great runs!!
I apologize for being so behind. Is it getting better yet, even though it’s only been 2 weeks or so?
BTW… it might not have felt all that great, but you really did make some great time! Nice job! 😀
Thank you. It is better!! I have had some of my best runs since then. I’ve run longer distances at a faster pace. It’s the cooler weather. How are you?
I do better in the cool too, lol! I’m doing good, thank you for asking! I’ve had a solid 3 weeks of mourning, but I’m definitely ready to get back to the living! And resume my training!! I have a half in 6 weeks, for heaven’s sake, so time for me to snap out of it! 😀
Be patient with yourself. But yes…we must live on.
Way to go!! Consistency will pay off, so keep sticking with it!
Thank you Jenny. I’ve had some great runs since then….getting ready for my 10k. I’ll keep at it.
Well Stuck at it. Hope your running’s gotten even better since then
Thank you. It has been much better. I will race in my first 10k on Saturday. I’ve trained and feel ready.
You go girl! Keep on running- push past the mental pain! We can do so much more than we think we can once we push past the mental barriers. Check out my latest running post at https://courtneylivin.wordpress.com/2016/11/13/richmond-half-marathon/
